The skin is a complex organ that protects the body against environmental stress.
The epidermis, the upper layer of the skin, plays a vital role in protection,
nutrition and exchanges (respiration and elimination).
Dry and malnourished skin, linked either to a skin type
or caused by ageing, results from a lack of specific lipids,
essential fatty acids or EFAs, which are vital components in
cells and intercellular cement.
In order to effectively combat malnourishment, firstly it is
essential to nourish the skin intensely, by re-establishing
and strengthening the skin's barrier function via the restoration
of intercellular cement.
On the other hand, the cells must be regenerated by restoring
the cellular membranes.
Pioneers in the use of argan oil in dermo-cosmetics for over 20 years, GALENIC Laboratories have developed great expertise in argan fruits, and this expertise has been made official with the registration of 4 patents.
Galénic Laboratories were among the first in the world to describe the chemistry of argan oil's unsaponifiables, and to demonstrate its cosmetic benefits as early as the end of the 1970s, working in partnership with Professors Soulier and Farines.
1983
Patent relating to the extraction method for argan oil and its cosmetic use.
With this patent, Pierre Fabre Research was the first to succeed with an application in cosmetology.
1986
Galénic made a major step forward in prevention of ageing
with its launch of ARGAN Nourishing Cream designed for dry skin.
1994
Patent relating to the enriching of argan oil in unsaponifiable fraction.
Patent relating to the procedure for obtaining formulas containing this enriched oil. The ARGAN range benefits from the latest advances from Pierre Fabre Research with this patent for enriching argan oil, for optimum revitalizing effects.
1996
Patent relating to compositions combining the oil and argan peptides
to combat skin's ageing.
2002
Delta 7 is discovered and identified
The active fraction of argan oil with proven anti-ageing and anti-sagging effects. This active ingredient works inside keratinocytes to reactivate all the skin's natural anti-sagging mechanisms.
2007
Application for patent registered
relating to the use of an unsaponifiable extract of argan fruit pulp, to be used in cosmetology in anti-ageing products.
These patents have enabled a unique oil to be perfected with widely demonstrated effectiveness.
Its extraction without torrefaction or chemical solvents enables an oil to be obtained of rare quality which is strictly controlled and highly concentrated in active ingredients.
It has exceptional virtues to nourish and regenerate dry skin and slows down the ageing process.

Despite being extremely resistant, argan trees are now under threat because of the intensive deforestation which began at the beginning of the 20th century. Their disappearance would be disastrous for the region and endanger the sustainability of its ecosystem.
Since 1998, the argan groves have been declared a biosphere reserve for the kingdom of Morocco by UNESCO, contributing to the region's ecological, economic, social and scientific development.
The notion of biosphere reserves, created at the end of the 1960s, allows biodiversity conservation to be reconciled with socio-economic development.
